Welcome to the Raccoon Point Maintenance Association Website!
Raccoon Point Road is a 1.9 mile chip sealed road. In the 1960s the Buckhorn Corporation owned and was selling for development the areas surrounding a private logging road which is now known as Raccoon Point Road. This was a privately owned road extending from the County Road, Buckhorn Road, to the eastern boundary of Government Lot 6 and provided each property owner with a permanent easement access. The road, listed as a tax lot (TP:17074401700), was initially owned and maintained by the Buckhorn Corporation. The lot extended from the intersection with Buckhorn Road to the east section of Government Lot 6 which is also the eastern property line of TP: 170744017000
: 170744014000 (675 Raccoon Point Road. It was later sold to the Lister family in the late 1970s or early 1980s when they purchased the Williams residence TP:170744008000 (858 Raccoon Point Road). At about the same time, Mr. McIntosh desired to develop his his adjoining property at Raccoon Point. The County required him to widen and regrade the road for access to his property to a 20 ft width. The road tax lot was then purchased by Raccoon Point Owners Association (RPOA). At the time the road was a gravel road that was graded twice a year.
In 2005, RPOA came to the realization that it could no longer maintain its internal roads and the property at the beginning of the road. Rather than abandon the property they went out to a group of residents to look at the feasibility of starting a road association to maintain the road. In 2006, after much discussion, a plan was put together as to how to maintain and charge for the road maintenance. The plan that came out of the meeting called for three regions designated Region A, B & C. The idea was to have regions A & B have enough votes to balance out the votes in Region C. As of 2025, Region A has 48 lots of which 24 have voting rights, Region B has 35 lots of which 25 have voting rights, and Region C has 57 lots of which 43 have voting rights.
In 2007 the first major change was made to the road when the membership, again after much discussion, by a vote of all lot owners, elected to chip seal the road. Over the years since it was established, the Association has been responsible for clearing the road on down trees and rocks, yearly winter snow plowing, ditching of the roadsides and cutting of overhead trees.
